Jane A. Matilda Williams married John H. Bowman, daughter of "Honorable" Jared Williams and Martha Carson 17 Sep 1818, in Frederick Co, VA

The Frederick County Marriage Bond record for the marriage of John (X) Bowman and Jane Ann Matilda Williams is dated 16 Sept 1818 with JARED Williams giving surety (probably her father and not her brother Jared).

The will of a Jared Williams is recorded in Frederick County 1831 (bk 16/p.357; inventory bk 17/p.83, & accounting bk 18/p.261). Also a Jared Williams was one appraiser for estate of John Taylor in 1806 Frederick County.

Jane Matilda is said buried in a Bowman family graveyard somewhere near Fayette County KY. The Lexington Cemetery started in 1849 and it is not likely she was reburied there because John H Bowman and family were long gone to Christian County KY by this time; many in the Bowman family were relocated to the Lexington Cemetery when it opened.

John married in 1818, in Virginia where Jane A. Matilda Williams parents lived. Early on they moved to Kentucky near other Bowman relations, his brother Joseph, cousins and uncles. Records indicates his wife died there in 1821 about
six months after the birth of their second child. John took his two babies back to Virginia where the older child was cared for by grandparents Isaac and Mary Bowman and the baby was cared for by the mother's parents, Honorable Jared &
Martha Williams. John H. Bowman returned to Kentucky and subsequently married Mary P. Lawson in 1825. John H Bowman's second marriage as record in Fayette Co, KY lists his name only as John and her name Nancy Lawson. The two little girls
immediately returned to Kentucky where they were lovingly raised by their step mother.
