On July 6, 1885 Zwaantje Zijlstra, 15 years aged, arrives with her parents and six siblings on the SS Pieter Caland from the city Nijmegen in east Nederland at New York, Castle Garden. Their destination is not mentioned, but the Zijlstras founded between the River Missouri and Platte, Charles Mix County, in southeast South Dakota the Dutch-Frisian agrarian settlement Friesland. In 1920 the family moved from Platte to Hull in northwest Iowa, where she soon died after moving, but it's unknown on which date and year.
