She was born before 1775 in Augusta Co., Virginia (area now known as Germany Valley in Pendleton Co., WV), daughter of Godfrey and Gertrude (Courtrought) Bumgardner. Her father "Gottfried Baumgartner" was immigrant ancestor from Schwaigern (now in Germany). She died between 1830 and 1840 in Madison County, Indiana near Ovid (New Columbus) in Adam Township. She was married to John Ellsworth on June 28, 1792 by the Reverend Joseph Cheuvront, Sr. in Harrison County, Virginia (now WV). They were parents of ten known children: Sarah, David, Andrew, Adam, William, Hannah, Lydia, Simon, Jacob, and Daniel.

It is believed that she and husband were buried on the home place near Ovid (New Columbus), Adam Twp., Madison Co., Indiana, and their bodies have been destroyed. There were reports of stones being on the farm at one time, but they are now gone.
