Dorothy Mildred Nelson, born August 28, 1928, daughter of Hilary and Dorothy Underwood went home to her Lord Jesus Christ on May 8, 2012.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Nelson on August 2, 2010.

Their son, Clifton Nelson (Melissa) resides in Mobile with their daughters, Alexandra, Meredith, Gillian, and Hilary.

Mildred, a woman of beauty and strength, leaves a legacy of faith which extends far beyond her family. She lived a life of service as is seen in her chosen profession of nursing. Her commitment to caring reached well into her personal life as she remained deeply connected to her church family Creekwood Church of Christ and friends in Mobile, Alabama, and abroad.

She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Iris Thompson (General H.O. Thompson, USAF, Ret), Ronald Underwood (Nancy), Gloria Meredith, and Marshall Underwood (Sandy); numerous nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews have cherished, happy memories of her sharing her love and life.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, May 11, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Brook Cedron Cemetery in Baldwin County.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory can be sent to Bud & Joy's Children's Home c/o Creekwood Church of Christ, 1901 Schillinger Rd. S., Mobile, AL 36695.
