Graveside service for Birdie Oden Holloway will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Briggs Chapel Church Cemetery in Porterville, Mississippi, with Reverend Paul Davis officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Holloway, 94, of Meridian died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a graduate from high school in Porterville, Mississippi and received her Registered Nurse Degree from Matty Hersee Nursing School. Birdie worked for Anderson Hospital for Dr. Cecil L. Gaston, a pediatrician, in Meridian and completed her career at Matty Hersee Hospital. She worked at the Matty Hersee until age seventy.
Survivors include her son, Richard Holloway and wife Linda; daughter Linda Willis; grandchildren Rich Holloway, Shannon McElroy, Raye Carol Ensell and Michelle Willis; great-grandchildren J.C. McElroy, Kristen McElroy, Jordan Ensell, Dylan Ensell and Elijah Willis; brother, Arthur Oden and wife Miriam; sisters Reva Doris Brown and Lucy Henry, Jimmie Lee Mercer and husband Wesley and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Holloway; parents, Sam and Maggie Oden; brother, Thad Oden; sister, Betty Jean Lindsay, sister, Clara Oden Johnson, sister, Lorena McGrew and brother, Clyde Oden.
Pallbearers will be John Clinton McElroy, Rich Holloway, Billy Wayne Sims, Erick Lashley, Danny Garrett and Mark Ensell.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
