Arlie Smith was the son of Mary Mae Walters Smith Sullivan and Carl Smith. He became ill with lung cancer which later spread throughout his body. He was in the care of Hospice for about a week. On October 23, 2011, Arlie became unresponsive and slipped into a coma. He passed away the following morning at 11:00 AM.
It was his wish to be cremated.
