Funeral services for John A. DeCoux, 63, of Route 5, Faribault, were held at the Sacred Heart Church in Faribault with the Rev. John T. Brown officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at the Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael DeCoux of New Brighton, Roger DeCoux of Brooklyn Center, Ralph Kern of Owatonna, Gerald DeCoux, Kenneth DeCoux and Alan Thomas all of Faribault. Denage Lord, organist, accompanied soloists, Mrs. Harry LaVoy and Mrs. Dennis Deenen. John A. DeCoux was born on Feb. 7, 1909 in Walcott Township to Julius and Ann DeCoux. He attended rural schools in Walcott Township. He was united in marriage on Sept. 8, 1936 to Florence Chavie in Faribault. From 1936 until 1944 he was engaged in farming in Walcott Township and in 1944 they purchased their present home at Route 5, Faribault, where they have since resided. He was employed by Wilson Packing plant in Faribault for 17 years, for one year by the Great Western Railroad and for the past 13 years as a plaster tender at Artcraft Interiors, retiring in February of 1971. Mr. DeCoux was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Eagles Local 515. Mr. DeCoux, who passed away at the Rice County District One Hospital in Faribault on Feb. 15, is survived by his widow, Florence; five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Diane) Lanphear of St. Louis Park, Mrs. Harrison (Darline) Freeman of Rochester, Mrs. Rudie (Liona) Jorgenson of Minneapolis, Cheryl DeCoux of St. Paul and Mrs. George (Beveriee) Gruber of Faribault; two sons, John and Curtis, both attending Pipestone Vocational School; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Bisping; and four brothers, Frank, George, Albert and Joseph; his mother, Anna DeCoux of the St. Lucas Convalescent and Geriatric Care Center; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Relatives and friends attended the funeral from Minneapolis, St. Paul, Brooklyn Park, New Brighton, Owatonna, Medford, Nerstrand, Farmington, Kenyon, Waseca, Rochester and Northfield.
