Roy D. Blakely, 59, of Nashville, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, in Nashville. He was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Nashville to Henry and Leone Elder Blakely.
Mr. Blakely was the golf course superintendent for the Idabel Country Club in Idabel, OK. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Nashville and a member of the Arkansas and Oklahoma Golf Course Superintendent's Association. He was a retired member of the Nashville Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Blakely.
Survivors include: M.J. Cearley of Nashville; his mother, Leone Blakely of Nashville; two children, Allen and Stephanie Blakely of Little Rock and Kim and Jason Newton of Nashville; M.J.'s children, Chuck and Valerie Davis, Tammye Davis, Michelle and Eddie Daniel; four brothers, Bill and Mary Blakely, Bobby and Pat Blakely, both of Nashville, Ronnie and Jean Blakely of Minneapolis, MN and Ray and Shirley Blakely of Nashville; seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, in the First Baptist Church in Nashville with Dr. David Blasť and Bro Jimmy Dale officiating. By Mr. Blakely's request , he was cremated.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
