Grimmett, Esther E. - of Flint, formerly of St. James City, Florida, age 83, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services were held at 11AM Monday, February 21, 2011 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor Chris Yager officiated. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to Cornerstone Baptist Church. Esther was born in Grand Blanc, MI on May 31,1927, the daughter of Earl & Emma (Gean) Kinney and was a resident of St. James City, Florida having moved from Flint. She married Fenton Grimmett on June 23, 1947 in Flint. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Surviving are 5 children: Judy & husband Jim Gill of Swartz Creek, Cathy & husband Gary Roeper of Durand, Janice & husband Ed Shumaker of Flint Township, Vicki & husband Aaron Whitman of Flint, Ricky & wife Molly Grimmett of Sullivan, MO, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers: Marvin & wife Catherine Kinney, Leo & wife Beverly Kinney and Doyle & wife Nancy Kinney, all of Flint, one sister-in-law, Gynith Simmonds of Millington and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fenton (in 1994) and her parents. A special thank you to Avalon Hospice for their kind and compassionate care over the last six months.
