Close family members remember Clyde as a small man, about 5' 11" tall, small frame, lean, and a very hard worker. He raised cotton and other crops, and he and May always had "a garden full of vegetables and a hen house full of chickens".

His children attended school and got a good education, becoming quite skilled in their fields. He always seemed quite proud of his children. Clyde and May were known to attend church regularly.
