Timothy Bacon was baptized on April 14, 1751, in Natick, Massachusetts, the son of Lt. John and Abigail (Sawin) Bacon of Needham. Timothy Bacon, along with his brothers John and Moses, were part of the Needham West Company of militia commanded by Capt. Aaron Smith and answered the alarm of April 19, 1775 for the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Timothy's father, Minute Man Lt. John Bacon, was killed in Menotomy on April 19, 1775. On April 4, 1776, Timothy Bacon married Sybil (or Sybbel) Parker, the daughter of Jacob and Lydia (Park) Parker, in Needham.

Timothy Bacon served two more terms in the militia, serving six months in 1776 in Capt. Chamberlain's company in Col. Moses Wheeler's Regiment of the Massachusetts Militia, and three months in 1777 under the same officers and was at the defeat of British General John Burgoyne's army in September and October 1777 at Saratoga, New York.

Thomas W. Baldwin in Michael Bacon of Dedham, 1640 and His Descendants (1915) incorrectly states that the Timothy Bacon who married Sybil Parker was born on April 12, 1753 in Dedham, the son of Ebenezer and Rebecca (Blackman) Bacon. However, the 1837 Revolutionary War widow pension for Sybil (Parker) Bacon (file W.23498) proves that her husband Timothy Bacon was the son of Lt. John and Abigail (Sawin) Bacon in that Sybil's application has a supporting declaration by her sister-in-law, Mary (Bacon) Frost, a documented daughter of Lt. John and Abigail Bacon. In addition, the article The Payn and Bacon Families Meet in Western Massachusetts by Mary Ellen Scarborough, published in The Mayflower Quarterly Vol. 76, No. 1, March 2010 at pages 68-77, identifies the Timothy Bacon, son of Ebenezer and Rebecca (Blackman) Bacon, as the Timothy Bacon who married Rebecca Payn of Coventry, Connecticut. This Timothy Bacon died on July 26, 1834 in Hinsdale, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

Timothy Bacon, son of Lt. John and Abigail (Sawin) Bacon, and Sybil Parker had twelve children: Moses, Aaron, Elizabeth ("Betsey"), Timothy Jr., Sybil, Abigail ("Nabby"), John, Noah, Isaac, Jacob, Rhoda, and Lydia ("Lidday").

In about 1801 the Timothy Bacon family moved to Lowville, Lewis County, New York. Timothy Bacon is in Lowville in the 1810 and 1820 U.S. census. Timothy died on May 4, 1823 at the age of 72, probably in Lowville. His widow Sybil apparently was residing with son Isaac in Lowville in the 1825 New York state census. Son Noah was also residing in Lowville in the 1825 census. Widow Sybil and son Isaac are residing in Denmark, Lewis County, New York in the 1830 U.S. census. In 1837 Timothy's widow Sybil Bacon applied for a Revolutionary War widow's pension in Denmark, Lewis County, New York, where their son Isaac was also living. Isaac signed a declaration in support of his mother's pension confirming the death of his father. Neither Sybil nor Isaac's declaration mention where Timothy died. To date Timothy Bacon's grave, nor the cemetery where he was buried, has been identified although he likely was buried in or near Lowville, New York.

Timothy's wife, Sybil (Parker) Bacon, did not remarry. By the time of the 1840 U.S. census Sybil and her son Isaac had moved from Lewis County to Jefferson County, New York, where Sybil's son Moses Bacon was residing. Sybil died at Rutland, Jefferson County, New York, on November 27, 1846 at the age of 88. Her grave also has not been located nor the cemetery found where she was buried.
