Glenn, the son of Glenn R. Urquhart and Jean B. Urquhart of Southfield MI enlisted in the US Marine Corps on October 12, 1967 in Detroit MI. He arrived in Vietnam on April 10 1968, and was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

During Operation LINN RIVER near the Chau Son village complex in Dien Ban District while clearing out the NVA from fortified bunkers there was a secondary explosion which resulted in a Marine being wounded. Evacuated to the Station Hospital NSA in DaNang, LCpl Urquhart died as a result of multi fragmentation wounds from a hostile explosive device.
