Edward E. "Mr.Ed" Blazina, 79, of Ottumwa, died at 8:54 am July 18, 2012 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born June 15, 1933 in Centerville to Edward and Mary Feketik Blazina. He married Nancy Carol Everman on August 20, 1955. A graduate of De Paul Academy in Chicago, Ed served in the U.S.Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked at John Morrell & Co. from 1951 to 1967, drove a truck for Sheedy Distributing from 1967 to 1977 and also owned and operated Mr.Ed's Bar on West Second St. from 1977 To 1993. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #888 and O.B.Nelson Post #3 American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and was an avid Cubs fan.
Surviving is his wife, Nancy; 5 children, John(Connie Lapsley)Blazina of Albia, Jan(Pat)McElroy of Vernal, UT, Jim(Barb)Blazina of Blair, NE, Jerry(Monica Murray)Blazina of Drakesville and Joe(Lisa)Blazina of Ottumwa; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Blazina; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Donna(Bill)Mercer of Whiting, IN.
He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren and a sister, Carol Dodson.
Per his wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa Anatomical Donation Department. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Arthritis Foundation.
