Barbara Johnson, age 72 of Sibley, IA died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at United Methodist Church in Sibley with Pastor Shannon Pascual officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, May 2nd from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA.
In lieu of flowers family wish memorials, which will be directed at a later date.
Barbara Johnson was born February 26, 1944 in Waverly, Iowa to Melvin and Vendla (Syndergaard) Webrand. She was raised and received her education in the Waverly-Shell Rock area. As a young lady, Barbara worked at a restaurant for several years. She was united in marriage to Jerry Johnson on June 30, 1962 at the Methodist Church in Shell Rock. Jerry was in the military so the couple lived in Long Beach, California until his discharge. They then lived in Waterloo, Independence and Ryan, Iowa before coming to Sibley where they have remained for 40 Years. Barbara was an energetic and bubbly person. She had a love for life and enjoyed cooking and playing bridge. She was a loyal friend and will be missed greatly. Her love and enjoyment of family was so important to her. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and one great-grandchild, McKenna. She had a long courageous battle with cancer for the last 8 years.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Jerry; her children, daughter, Kelly (Rex) Janssen of Sibley, IA and their children, Brandon Janssen of Davenport, IA and Mitchell (Leah) Janssen and their daughter, McKenna all of Harrisburg, SD; son, David (Kimberly) Johnson and their children, Skylar and Devin all of St. Augusta, MN; brother, Leon (Sandy) Webrand of West Lake, CA; nephew, Blair (Rachel) Webrand of Moorpark, CA; and other extended family members.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Eldon Johnson.
