Mitchell Paul Airoldi, 55, of Bremerton, Wash., died peacefully on Feb. 27, after a long battle with cancer with his wife at his side. He was born in Vallejo to Nino (Jack) and Ellen Airoldi, who both preceded him in death.
Mitch graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1974. In 1983, he was employed by Mare Island Shipyard where he graduated as a shipfitter apprentice. In 1990, when Mare Island was closing, Mitch moved to Bremerton, Wash., and came to work at IMF Bangor in Shop 11. He was an avid Sprint Car and dirt-track racing enthusiast. Mitch enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, second-mother, three brothers, sister, sister-in-law, two stepdaughters, four grandchildren, and two nieces.
A celebration of Mitch's life is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Vallejo Moose Lodge, 337 Nebraska St., Vallejo.
