In Alex, Sr.'s Last Will & Testimony from March 27, 1803 filed in Stokes County, North Carolina he willed land to sons Alexander [Jr.], John, Aaron, William & Gabriel Moore. Only family heirlooms were left to Alexander, Sr.'s daughters Mrs. Florence Moore Merritt, Sarah Moore Bowles, Mary Moore Ferguson & Mrs. Nancy Moore Martin. Nothing was mentioned for fifth daughter, Elizabeth "Lydia" Moore born in Scotland in 1758 and married John Merritt of Essex County, VA. But according to John's entry, John owned a farm next to Alexander's farm until 1812 when John & Lydia migrated west.
The death year posted on this memorial entry was speculated from Alex Moore's last will when it was filed in 1803 in Stokes County, NC. But no documentation has been located declaring when Alexander Moore, Sr. actually passed away. Reminder, it might not have been necessary in 1805 for Alex Moore, Sr. to be actually in Rockbridge County to testify of a land purchase in Rockbridge for a possible brother. Alex, Sr. & Elizabeth had sold land in Amherst County, VA while living their last years in Stokes County, NC.
