"In a gravel pit on private property near Elk City, Kansas, are the broken up grave stones of some of those other children. One boy 19 years old went to get water from the Elk River when it was in flood stage, and drowned. The river ran right through corner of their property. I have driven along the section lines and tried to find exactly where they lived. No trace of any buildings now, although there was a school plot near one location." [10-8-10 e-mail from Robbins/Harris descendant cdm.]
