Ramon Rivera Robles Went peacefully into his eternal home February 15, 2010, after a determined and courageous battle with cancer. Ramon was born in Pirtleville, Arizona on June 28, 1929. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Hortensia and Arturo Robles; his brothers, Ramon I, Reynaldo and Estevan; his sisters, Otilia, Ramona and Cecilia. He is survived by sister, Evelina Stewart; brothers, Carlos (Irma), Manuel (Hilda) and Leo (Delores) and many nieces and nephews. He was married and is survived by his beloved wife, Felicia of 50 years and his three children, Clara (Grant) Richmond, Valerie (John) Dane and Jonathan Robles; grandchildren, Aaron (Sarita) Richmond, Marie (Fernando) Romero, Jonathan Paul (Maria) Richmond, Valerie Elizabeth Richmond, Sara (Kent) Scott, Katie Claire, Patrick Andreas, Tobias Dane, Alejandro, Antonio and Liliana Robles. Ramon's great-grandchildren, Joaquim, Micaela, Xavier and Isaac Richmond, Clara Lucia and Juan Pablo Romero, Hendrix and Jaxon Scott. Ramon graduated from Douglas High School in 1948 and soon after entered the Air Force. He served his country for four years. After his discharge he continued his education by attending the University of Arizona; supporting himself by working as assistant chef, post office carrier, sales person in retail, short order cook and at Phelps Dodge's Chemical Analysis Lab. He spent a summer session at the University of Berkley, California before getting his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Arizona. Three years later he received his degree of Science in Pharmacy at the University College of Pharmacy. He had a job at St. Joseph's Hospital, which had just opened in the summer of 1961. He was a pharmacist there for ten years. In 1971, with Dr. Abrahms and Dr. Winship's encouragement he went to El Rio Neighborhood Health Center to become the founder of the pharmacy. He was the pharmacist at El Rio for 40 years. Ramon was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Oblate of St. Benedict Order, a Cursillo member, and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was also a member of the Arizona Pharmacy Association. He was devoted to his wife, Felicia; his children, family and co-workers and all the patients that he served at El Rio, St. Joseph's Hospital and Kino Hospital. Ramon was a compassionate man who always wanted to help his fellow men and went the extra mile in his profession. We would like to thank Dr. DiSimone, Julia and Steve from the Arizona Oncology, the TMC Hospital crew; Mary, Jane, Brenda and all those who helped make his days more comfortable.
