BRADY, JOHN EARL, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Masonic Home of Louisville.

Mr. Brady was born on February 13, 1927, in Indiana County, PA.

He was the son of the late John H (Mike) and Ida Brady.

He was a 1947 graduate of Marion Center (PA) High School and had continued to attend his high school reunions until recently.

He retired from Ralston Purina in 1986 after 38 years of service.

While with Purina he worked in their Ohio, Virginia, and Kentucky operations.

After retirement, he worked for Almost Family.

He was a long time Councilman serving Woodlawn Park (KY).

He and his wife enjoyed volunteer work for St. Matthews Senior Citizen Center and the Red Cross of Kentucky.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II.

He was a member of the Zachary Taylor Post 180 of the American Legion.

One of his favorite pastimes was woodworking.

He enjoyed making whirligigs and wooden toys, as well as squirrel feeders for his backyard friends.

He was a member of Kyana Woodcrafters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Thompson) Brady, who entered into rest on Sept 4, 2004.

Mr. Brady was preceded in death by his sister, Isabel (Brady) Gamble.

He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Brady and her husband, Leo Thompson of Louisville; a son, Michael Brady and his wife Deidrah of York, PA; four grandchildren, Robert Thompson, Katherine Wallace, Hannah Brady, and Emma Brady; three great- grandchildren, Aiden Wallace, Cadence Wallace and William Thompson.

He is also survived by his faithful canine companion, Bob.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m Sunday in the parlor of Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service Monday, October 19, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home also.
