Alice Loraine Bate, 70, of Idaho Falls, died Nov. 16, 2003, at her home.

She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

She was born June 29, 1933, in Pingree, Idaho, to Lee and Maurine Webb Johnson.

She grew up in Pingree and graduated from Snake River High School in 1951.

She attended the Excelcis School of Beauty, and business school.

On July 1, 1954, she married Ronald O. Bate in Bozeman, Mont.

She was a member of the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers.

She enjoyed music, lapidary and silver-smithing.

Alice will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald O. Bate of Idaho Falls; a son, Brian (Roberta) Bate of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers Eric Milo Hirning of Pingree, Fred K. Hirning of Lake Mead, Nev., and John J. Hirning of Blackfoot; and her sisters, Marta A. Daniels of Goldendale, Wash., and Mary P. (Bud) Bewley of Soda Springs, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Bate; and a brother, Bud Johnson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Idaho Falls LDS 13th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive.

The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls, and for one hour before the services Thursday at the church.
