H>J> McKinley aged 62 formerly county surveyor of Venango, died at home in Clintonville about 3:00 on Friday afternoon from injuries he received about a half hour before. L.E. Shrefler who was an eyewitness to fatal accident gives the following: Mr. McKinley was rigging up a power to operate a small saw he intended to use in sawing wood for fuel. The power was a gas engine of about three horse power and located about 75 feet from McKinley residence. One of the belts jammed in pulley and Mr. McKinley was striving to release it while the engine was in motion and was struck by one end of the belting and thrown under the power sustaining internal injuries and a fracture of the skull over the right temple. Shrefler carried him home where first aid was given until arrival of Dr. Earl Henderson but he was beyond any human aid and he passed away about a half hour after being hurt without regaining consciousness. Born and reared and spent entire life in immediate vicinity of or in Clintonville. United Presbyterian Churcvh of Clintonville. Married to Hannah Lisa Schrefler 10 Jul. 1884.
