Barbara Lee Souza Shattuck of Roseburg, passed away gracefully on Monday, June 10, 2013. She was born on December 28, 1932, and raised in Pacific Grove, CA. She married Edward Souza in 1950 and raised their family in Seaside, CA, before moving to Oakland in 1971. She was widowed in 1979 and married William R. Shattuck in 1981. She and Bill owned a catering business until retirement and travelled throughout the West and Alaska. She is survived by her husband, Bill; her children: Daniel Souza (Karen); Kathi Ball (Jesse); Karen Vallaire (Joe); and Judy Souza; her step-children: Jani Shattuck (Carl); Brad Shattuck; and Jeff Shattuck; her brother, Richard Dirk; her sisters: Jerry Murray and Sandy Furtado; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepson William Shattuck By her request, there will be no memorial services. Donations may be made in her honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Cancer Services of Douglas County. A private scattering of her ashes in an area dear to her will take place at a future date. (mst)
