Mrs. Mary (Reese) Powell, 86, a resident of Johnstown for the past 50 years, died at 5:15 o'clock this morning at the home of her duaghter, Mrs. J. W. Slater of 620 Kennedy Ave., with whom she resided. She had been confined to bed for the past month.

The deceased as born October 12, 1856, in Nesquehoning, Carbon County, a daughter of David and Mary Reese. She was the last surviving member of her family. Her husband, Evor A. Powell, died on May 28, 1937, and a daughter, Cora E. Powell, died May 23, 1940. One son, David, died in infancy.

Surviving are the following children: L. G. Powel, Robesonia, Pa.; G. R. Powell, 107 South St.; Mrs. J. W. Slater, with whom she resided; Mrs. Frank Littlem Elkhart, Ind., who is visiting here; J. L. Powell, Richmond, Va., and W. C. Powell, U. S. Army, stationed at Albuquerque, N. M. Ther ar nine grandchildren, three of whom are in the service of their country. They are Cpl. Paul Little, stationed in Alaska. Pvt. Evor Little serving with the armed forces overseas, and Pvt. Phillip A. Powell, on duty with the coast artillery at Newport, R. I.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from W. C. Powell, stationed at Albuquerque. The body will be taken to the Slater home on Kennedy Ave. Mrs. Powell was a member of the First Christian Church.
