"Mean" Gene Kelton formed the band called Die Hards in 1992, he sang lead vocals and played guitar and harmonica. The band played blues, Southern rock and rockabilly on the biker circuit, the Die Hards also appeared alongside Lynyrd Skynyrd, David Allan Coe, the Marshall Tucker Band and Omar & the Howlers, and many others.

Kelton was also in the 2009 independent movie Marfa Red, which was later called The Passage. His book, Gigs From Hell, just shipped last month.

Kelton was killed Dec. 28, 2010 when his SUV collided head-on with a school bus in Crosby, Texas.
