Cathy Lee Streetman, 58, of Victoria, passed away Nov. 29, 2009 at her home. She was born Aug. 16, 1951, in Dallas, to Carl and Nita Burrows of Whichita Falls and Dallas. She grew up in Richardson and graduated from high school there in 1969. In high school she was active on the gymnastics team and won awards at the state meet. After graduation she attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, where she met her husband, John.
In September of 1972 she married John Streetman and together they moved to Alice where she worked with children with special needs in the local school system until moving to Victoria in 1976. In Victoria she worked in the library at the University of Houston-Victoria and at Patti Welder Middle School. In 1984 she opened and operated a small store, The Popcorn People, where she became life long friends with many of her customers.
She was an active volunteer with Theater Victoria for over 15 years, doing all sorts of behind the scenes and administrative work. She especially enjoyed working the concession stand where she made many more friends.
She was a life long member of the Episcopal Church and regularly attended Trinity Episcopal in Victoria where she participated in many church activities.
She loved animals and helped many cats, dogs, and even baby squirrels to find homes.
She was proudest of her three daughters, and the biggest supporter of them and her husband, in their many pursuits. She was a good friend to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by them.
She is survived by her husband, John R Streetman; daughters, Miranda Spring Streetman of Brooklyn, NY; Amanda Skylar Streetman of Houston, and Abigayle Spencer Streetman of Nacogdoches.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nita Burrows, and her grandmother, Bess Stearman.
