He played for the Pirates in 1962 and hit .243 with two homers in 89 games, mostly as a reserve player. The next spring, he was traded to the Colt .45s for outfielder Manny Mota who had a 20-year career in the majors ahead of him. Goss had one.
In 1963, Goss hit .209 in 133 games with nine homers and 44 RBIs. But he also struck out 128 times, almost three times for every 10 trips to the plate. He was released after the season.
Goss passed away on July 31, 1996 at age 61 of unknown causes in Reno, NV.
