Roy George Bilbrey, 89, longtime resident of Colorado Springs passed away February 9, 2012. He was born July 16, 1922 to George and Velma Bilbrey in Colorado Springs, CO. He married Helen Williams January 29, 1942. He is survived by 3 children: Sandy (Karl) Nelson of Lakewood, CO; Diane (Les) Houston of Albuquerque, NM; Gary (Mary Patterson, fiancée) Bilbrey of Colorado Springs; and son-in-law Raoul Kennedy (Martha) of San Francisco, CA. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; and daughter, Patricia Kennedy of San Francisco, CA. Roy is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Brad (Rachael) Nelson; Amy (Guy) Chavez; Dennis (Diane), Jason and Holly Houston; Jeffrey (Anette Komperda, fiancée) and Annie Bilbrey; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Roy retired from McDonald's Restaurants as District Operations Manager. He and Helen founded the Howdy Pard, the first drive-in restaurant in Colorado Springs. Roy served in the Army as artillery instructor. He attended Colorado Springs High School, where he received many awards in high school football, basketball and track; set shot put records and a state javelin record. He and Helen enjoyed many years of travel in their recreational vehicles. At Roy's request, no services are scheduled.
