Stacy Len Askew, affectionately known as "Gene Wilder", age 43, 159 Spar Mill Loop, Erwin, died suddenly Friday, August 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Erwin, the son of Doris Willis Askew of Erwin and the late Jimmy Askew. Stacy was a loving and devoted dad, grandfather, son and brother. He always ended his conversations by saying "Who loves you.........God and Stacy".
Other than his mother, he is survived by a son: Lonnie Askew and wife, Kelsey; a daughter: Kimberly Askew; a grandson: Jaedyn Askew, all of Erwin; two step-grandsons: Dorian Foster and Andrew Foster; a brother: Marlon Holder, Newport; a sister: Lisa Hatcher, Erwin; a niece: Ashley Hatcher; two nephews: Desmond Holder and Damian Holder; former wife and the mother of his children: Robin Stancil Burrell and her other two sons, Toney and Allen; special friend: Maria Atkins; numerous cousins including two special cousins: Rozina McKinney and Charlotte Buchanan; many special friends including his very close friend, Kenny Howell. Several aunts and uncles also survive.
A celebration of Stacy's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Travis Holloway and Mr. Kenny Howell will officiate.
The family will receive friends prior to the service between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home of his mother, 750 Carolina Avenue, Apartment # 121, Erwin.
