Roger served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1965. His retirement was spent fishing and traveling with his friends.
Survivors include his mother, Grovetta Louise (Craven) Gilkerson of Somonauk, IL; Ronnie L. Mary Ann (Carter) Gilkerson of Batavia, IL; Robert L. Veronika (Zanker) Gilkerson of Plano, IL; Rick L. Cindy (Killian) Gilkerson of Millington, IL; Richard L. (Dick) Mary (Burke) of Clearlake, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Almon Funeral home in Carrollton, Georgia.
In accordance with Rogers wishes, the body was cremated in Carrollton, Georgia. A memorial service is planned for the family at the Somonauk Baptist Church on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association in care of Mary Parkinson, 999 Highway 113, Carrollton, Georgia, 30117.
