He was usually called Ellis. He was the son of Sarah (Rhule) and Joseph D. "Joe" Stinson. On 28 Jun 1934 he married Ina E. Melton in Clinton Co., Kentucky. (She was the daughter of Cora Daniel and Bill Melton.) Ellis was a coal miner. He died in the Maple Hill Hospital in Albany as the result of accidental injuries received at the mine. He is buried in the Albany Cemetery, Clinton Co., Kentucky.
