DEATH OF MRS. MARY E. GARST.
Dayton, O., Journal, Aug 31.
Mrs. Mary E. Garst, a well known and highly respected lady, widow of the late Daniel Garst, died at the residence of Mr. D H. Morrison, corner of Fourth and Ludlow streets, about 6:30 last evening. She had been ill for about two weeks, but her sickness did not take a serious turn until about two days ago. when her children were summoned, in anticipation of her death. She had recently arranged to take a trip to England on a visit to her son, Thomas B. Garst, of Wichita, Kans, who is now in London. She expected to start on the trip Wednesday last. There are eight surviving children in the family.
These are: Daniel A.,
Frank and Samuel, of New Mexico; Thomas B., Newton, and Mrs. Nettie G. Fraser,
of Wichita, Kans, Jasper, of South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Mary G. Wells, of Des Moines, lowa;
Mrs. Garst was the daughter of the late Thomas Morrison, one of the pioneers and earliest settlers of the city. She was a life-long member of the Third street Presbyterian church, a kind and good mother and endeared to a large circle of friends.
