Mrs. Mary Porter Matteson, widow of the late Herbert L. Matteson, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bert Schieler in St. Marys, Pa. Funeral services were held at the Episcopal Church there Tuesday and the remains were then brought on here and placed in the vault at Bayside for interment in the spring. Rev. W. J. Hamilton officiated at the service here.

Mrs. Matteson was born in Potsdam and her home was the house on Main street now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Coble. She attended the local schools, married Herbert L. Matteson whose parents conducted the Matteson House, which stood upon the site of the Arlington and was destroyed by fire. Mr. Matteson was for many years in the carriage business here and after his death Mrs. Matteson carried on the business for some years. Some three or four years ago she went to California and has since made that place her home.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Albert Grosh and Mrs. Bert Schieler of St. Marys, Pa., and by one son, Roswell P. Matteson of New Kensington, Pa.
