George Alexander Stevenson, 84, onetime deputy United States marshal, died at home, 1040 Lamar Ave., Wednesday at 5:30 a.m., after being ill sometime.
The funeral, Thursday at 2 p.m., will be held at Fry-Gibbs chapel by the Rev. John Shuler of First Methodist Church. Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Stevenson, son of George W. and Elizabeth (Roach) Stevenson, was born in Lamar County in Halesboro vicinity, January 31, 1873. He married Miss John Maude Kimball, January 9, 1901, in the Methodist church at Halesboro. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.
Mr. Stevenson, a deputy United States marshal many years ago, and afterward a deputy sheriff, was employed in various capacities also by the City of Paris.
Surviving are his wife and a daughter, Miss Maurie Stevenson, Paris.
