quote by Eunice STAPLETON Wall, granddaughter of Alfred Green
" Alfred Green was captured by Indians when he was about 14 years (abt. 1824) old. The Indians tested his bravery by raking 5 times down his back with a gar's jaw tooth and pouring salt in it. He did not move, so they kept him. He grew up and married the cheifs's daughter and had children. At about age 21, he got on his horse and rode away and came back to his relatives. He then married another woman (Lucinda Mason)on June 23, 1838 in Tallapoosa Co., Alabama, and still later married my great grandmother. Her name was Grace. Lucinda MASON was born in 1814 in Georgia and died in Texas.
