Obituary of Barbara Fayard Kingston

Barbara Fayard Kingston, age 74, of Bay St. Louis, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 in Biloxi. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Irvin S. Kingston and her children, Laura Green, Deborah Riley, Marsha Torres, Rock Kingston, Rebecca K. Lott, Lisa Winters, and Barbara Dorrough. They have 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Barbara Jean Kingston, sadly predeceased her in 1997. The Kingstons would also like to acknowledge their extended family members, Jim, Kee and Lisa Kim.
Barbara Kingston was born in 1933 in Pass Christian and was raised in Bay St. Louis by her parents, Edward and Marie Fayard, also deceased. She had 3 sisters, Doris Kingston, deceased; Geraldine Hebert, deceased; and Molly Covey and 3 brothers, Van Meter (Buddy) Fayard, deceased; Huey Fayard, deceased; and Michael Fayard, Sr. She met and married her husband, Irvin, in 1952 and led the life of an Army military wife and mother for 30 years traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe
She was active in the local chapter of the Lions Club having served as President and other positions for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and active in their charitable pursuits.
Barbara Kingston was very interested in medical science having suffered from diabetes, heart and lung disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other ailments. Because she hoped for advancement in the prevention, cure and treatment of these diseases, she selflessly donated her body to the University of MS Medical Center in Jackson, MS so that she would be of use to the students and scientists in providing information that would help find cures.
There will be a memorial mass where family and friends are invited on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at St. Augustine's Seminary in Bay St. Louis to pay their respects to Barbara.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to The University of Mississippi Medical Center, 2500 North State St., Jackson, MS 39216 for research to further the cause that she promoted.
