Orson W. Allred
(Rusty)
PRICE- Orson W. "Rusty" Allred, age 71, left this world on his term's, the same way he lived his life on January 12, 2014.
He was born on March 15, 1942 in Spring City, Utah to Arthur Moyle and Helen Rusk Allred.
Orson graduated from Carbon High School in 1960 and immediately joined the Navy where he served as a Quartermaster until 1965. After leaving the Navy he moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he became a policeman. He was lucky enough to meet the love of his life, Laura Lee Hoagland and they married on October 30, 1967. Four years later, they moved to Price, Utah where he joined the Price City Police Department. After working for the city he joined the Utah Highway Patrol in 1975 where he worked until 1990. Retirement wasn't all he thought it was, so he took a job working part-time for the Carbon County Landfill. "I'm sure he told more than one of you where to dump your garbage".
Orson enjoyed his family and friends and he was happiest when he could feed you. He took great pleasure in sharing a meal with his family and seeing them happy. Orson was a 42 year member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed camping, fishing and riding four wheeler's with his son. Orson had a special gift, tinkering with clocks. There wasn't a clock he couldn't fix. He also enjoyed wood working and everyone in the family enjoyed the benefits of his talents.
Orson was a friend to everyone and he really was a "Big Teddy Bear". We will miss him very much, but we will live on the way he would have wanted us. That was to be happy, content and on our own terms. In the immortal words of our Grandpa "come back when you can't stay so long".
Survived by his loving wife, Laura Lee, Price; children, Matthew Raymond, Price, Jennifer Lee, Price, Tracy Smeeton, Canada, Denise (Jeff) Whitley, Florida; grandchildren, Timothy Michael, Salt Lake City, Joshua Glenn, Price, Christina Whitley, Florida, Courtney Whitley, Florida; brother and pottery hunting buddy, David (Bonnie) Allred.
Preceded in death by his parents, and many dear friends.
Celebration of Life on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Ascension St. Matthew's Church. (522 North Homestead Blvd.) Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Orson online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net .
