Virginia P. Combs passed away Nov. 16 at her residence in Wickenburg. She was born Nov. 25, 1918 in Summit, N.J. Virginia was raised there and attended schools there.
She graduated from Chatham Hall in Virginia. She later married Fredrick Gilbert, and following their divorce she moved to Denver, Colo., where she met and married Harry B. Combs. They made their home in Denver and have been wintering in Wickenburg for the last 30 years.
Mrs. Combs was extremely active in the Kenmore Foundation in Virginia, and she worked on behalf of the Desert Caballeros 'Western Museum and was actively involved with the Friends of Music here in Wickenburg.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry B. Combs in 2003, and a son Christopher T. Gilbert in 2002. She is survived by daughter Victoria Gilbert of Los Angeles, Calif.; son and daughter in-law Joan Gilbert of Denver, Colo.; stepchildren Terry Combs and Tony Combs both of Denver, Colo., and Clara Moore of Montrose, Colo. 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with Fr. Dan Gerard officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Desert Caballeros Western Museum at 21 N. Frontier Street, Wickenburg, AZ 85390.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
