Tom Lars Canfield, 82, died Nov 1, 2000 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Tom was born June 22, 1918 in Antigo, WI. to Hebert and Katherine(Kitty) Canfield. He attended high school and Stout Institute at Menomonie, WI. He served in the U. S. Navy from December 1942 until January 1946. He spent his working years as Project Manager of many construction jobs, some of which were the Anchor Dam, and the Fontanelle Dam in Wyoming; Cannon Dam, in Hannibal Mo., Prairie Island Nuclear Plant at Red Wing, MN; and a lock and 234 mile canal for the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway near Fulton, Mississippi. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #12 of Great Kills, Staten Island, New York and was a 32nd degree member of he Scottish Rite. He married Dorie Irvin Sept 27, 1954 in Mason City, Iowa. Dorie preceded him in death in 1983. He is survived by his daughter Jeanne Vigen of Madison, CT; grandchildren Lars and Tove Vigen of CT; a sister, Virginia Schafer of Edina, MN; a sister and brother in law, Geneva and Gene McNaugton of Reedsburg WI., and nieces and nephews. Arrangements were in charge of the Guilford, CT Funeral Home.
