John W. Finnell, 75, dies late Saturday after a long illness
John W. Finnell, 75, 235 South Street, retired paperhanger, died Saturday evening at City Hospital following ten months illness.
He was born Aug 24, 1868, on a farm near Roscoe, the son of Thomas and Harriet McClain Finnell. He became a member of the Methodist church early in life and for the past 25 years had been a member of the Salvation Army.
He was married in 1899 to Alma Mirise who is deceased. In 1910 he married Margaret Blackson who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John and David Finnell, Elyria; two daughters Mrs. Mary Harbst and Mrs. Georgia Sheldon, Willoughby; two step children, Mrs. Bary Barlow, Columbus, and Perry Blackson, Coshocton; a brother, Sandy Finnell, Roscoe, one sister, Hattie Finnell, Roscoe; and 15 grandchildren. Three children, two brothers, and one sister are deceased.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30pm at the Salvation Army Citadel with Adj. Hoffman and Maj. Amore in charge. Burial will be in Roscoe cemetery.
Friends may call at the home of a grandson (Crestor Reardon?) 23 North Sixth Street until time of services.
