Simp (Dodge) Newman, 71, died at his home at East Lake Tuesday after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, at the East Lake Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Kings Chapel Cemetery directed by Carr Funeral Home.
Mr. Newman was a native of Marshall County and was married to the former Miss Nellie Terrell of Kings Hollow. He was a farmer before he retired. They moved from Sand Mountain to East Lake several years ago.
Mr. Newman is survived by his wife; sons, Guy, Jasper and J. D. Newman, all of Albertville and Ralph Newman of Chicamauga, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. Inez Tucker of Guntersville, Mrs. Dora Cole, Mrs. Marie Pankey and Mrs. Louise Pankey, all of Chicamauga.
