BENDER, TERRY CANFIELD age 73 of Orlando passed away on January 2, 2011. Born in Waterbury, CT on November 6, 1937 to Harold Bohn and Marjorie Canfield Bender. He moved to Orlando in 1952 and graduated from Edgewater High in 1955. He enlisted in the US Army and after marrying Sylvia Sedita on Valentines Day 1957, at Fort Devens Army base in Massachusetts, he was deployed to Kassel, West Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He enrolled at the University of Florida where he and his family lived in the infamous FlaVet housing complex near the stadium. He graduated in 1962 with a degree in advertising then moved his family back to Orlando. After working for Sears for 14 years, he managed the Altamonte Mall. He worked later delivering the Orlando Sentinel to over 1700 households a day and also owned his own Kwik-Kopy printing franchise on West Colonial Dr. until his retirement in 1991. He loved woodworking and, as an avid Gators fan, collecting Gator cards, programs and other memorabilia and was a past president of the Central Florida Gator Club. He was also a lover of nature and animals. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marsha Pusey. He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Sylvia, his son, Mark (Dee Dee), his daughter Julie Alvini (Gerry) and his 2 grandchildren, Clayton and Carly Bender and his beloved rescue Sheltie, Daizy. His family will miss him greatly but will always remember his strength, courage and grace during his illness. We hope those who knew him will remember his humor and dry wit with affection. He was a true believer in his destination through Jesus. "Happy trails to you, until we meet again. Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then..." A resurrection service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made in Terry's name to the Healing Ministry at All Saints Church, 338 E. Lyman Ave. Winter Park, Fl 32789 or a charity of your choice.
