BARTON, PHYLLIS, The amazing Phyllis Barton died at age ninety five, on July 14th, 2011, in her son and daughter-in-law's house in Valley Springs, California. She was born on December 28th, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She and husband Jack moved their son and newborn daughter to Orlando, Florida in 1954. Jack died in 1978 and Phyllis decided from that moment to meet life head on. She loved travel, and bridge, and sewing, and cooking, and reading, and her family. And she was adored in return. Her family will miss her dearly, son Paul, daughter Jean, daughter-in-law Nancy, son-in-law Marc, granddaughters Mandy and Chrissy, and great granddaughter Zoe. Her irrepressible demeanor, her jaunty attitude, and her self-reliance were inspirations to all who knew her. But she will be remembered most for her ready laugh and her endless capacity to love. Anyone who needs a smile has only to think of sweet Phyl. There will be a brief outdoor memorial service on Saturday, July 30 at 11:30am at the All Saints Episcopal Church, 338 East Lyman Avenue, in Winter Park. The family has asked that donations in Phyllis Barton's name be made to Hospice of Almador/Calaveras, P.O. Box 595, Jackson, California 95242.
