Robert (Bob) Earl Tracy passed away Aug. 14, 2011 at Stillwater Medical Center. He was 86. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2011 at the Assembly of God Church in Coyle at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Gene Herndon will be officiating. There will be no graveside service.
Mr. Tracy was born on March 13, 1925 to Clarence and Myrtle Tracy in Gravette, Ark. As a child, he and his family relocated to California where he attended school.
In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. The majority of his service time was spent in the South Pacific, mainly on Johnson Island. Robert returned to California at the end of World War II.
On May 29, 1946, Robert married Mildred Tibbitts. The couple resided in and around Watsonville, Calif. until 1965 when they moved to Coyle, Okla. The couple had two sons.
As a licensed plumber, Robert worked for various service companies in both California and Oklahoma before finally opening his own plumbing and heating business in Coyle, Okla.
Tracy's Plumbing and Heating served the area for 27 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and with the help of his wife, ran a small bait shop out of his home. He retired in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred, of Stillwater, two sons, Ronald Tracy (and wife Shelley) of Ottawa, Canada, Eldon Tracy (and wife Twyla) of La Plata, Mo., and a daughter-in-love, Jan Bentley of Perkins. Grandchildren include Cheri Scheidler, of Chicago, Ill., Cara Galloway, of Spokane, Wash., Philip Tracy, of Coyle, Okla. and Stephen Tracy, of Agra, Okla. He has seven great- grandchildren, with another expected in January.
