Harold Booker was a civilian held as a POW in the Philippine Islands. He died in the sinking of the Arisan Maru, by an American submarine, in the Bashi Channel of the South China Sea. Most of the POWs survived the attack but the Japanese refused to rescue them from the water. Of the 1803 POWs on the ship, only nine survived its sinking.
