John Bynum, 70, died on Wednesday, September 9 in his home in Eustace. He was born Dec. 16, 1938. His health had been declining very fast over the last number of months. He graduated from the Elkhart High School and his family lived in the Palestine area from 1948 to 1962. The Bynums were members of the Churches of Christ in Palestine and Elkhart during that time. His working career encompassed 15 years as a teacher/coach, many years working in and retirement from the natural gas industry, and cattle ranching. His funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in Athens, Texas at the Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. The burial will be in a cemetery near his home in Eustace. He leaves behind his wife, Lisa; four children, six grandchildren, his mother, now a resident of Waco; and three brothers.
