Marvin Harrison (1916-1985) was born in Chaffee, Missouri to parents John P. Harrison and Susannah "Susan" Allen Harrison. His father worked for the railroad in Missouri. Marvin married Augusta Nadine Crider on September 7, 1939 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Marvin and Augusta lived in Pineville, Louisiana and later California and had three children; Michael, John David, and Beverly Harrison before divorcing in 1956. Marvin followed in his father's foot-steps and had hoped for a career with the railroad; it was his railroad job that took the family to Louisiana from Missouri. However, that was not meant to be, and Marvin subsequently found work in the aircraft industry in Long Beach California, then later worked for Johns Manville Corp in Long Beach until his disability and retirement. Marvin married second wife Karen Means Ayers circa 1958 in Long Beach, California. They settled in Westminster, Orange County, California where Marvin remained until his death in 1985 from liver disease. Marvin's brother and 4 of his sisters pre-deceased him, as did his first wife Augusta. Marvin passed away at Westminster Humana Hospital following a long illness. He was survived by his sister Lona Harrison Curtis of Independence, Missouri, his second wife Karon Harrison, his three children and 5 grandchildren. Marvin preferred to be cremated as his own father had been; and requested to have his ashes scattered at sea. Cremation and scattering were handled by The Cremation Society of California and Coastal Cremation. The family had a private memorial celebration of life gathering in his honor, an Irish Wake-styled get-together in honor of his memory and Irish roots.
