Husband of Eliza E. Young. Son of Rederick Sojourner and Levicia (Levisa) Salley. Sibling to four brothers; Sylvester Dunn, William Wesley, Bridges H., and Martin U. Sojourner. All of the boys served for Mississippi during the Civil War. Only Friday did not return home.

Friday is listed as head of Household on the 16 Nov. 1850 Federal Census for Copiah County, Mississippi, listed as a Farmer born in South Carolina. Present in the house is his wife Emily(listed as Emeline)Francis Boling, a Carpenter from South Carolina and William Hullo, a Farmer.
On 01 March, Friday purchased 242 acres of land from the BLM (Jackson, MS office) as well as 40 acres on 02 April 1860.

Friday Sojourner served during the Civil War in the CSA Graves Company of Copiah County Horse Guards and the 36th Mississippi Infantry Co. B. as a Pvt.

He is listed in A Complete History of Mississippi Baptist (Leavell & Bates); among the names of killed and dead soldiers from the Minutes of 1864-1865. Cause of death, by disease.

It is unknown where he died amd where his remains were buried.
