Earl was orphaned at the age of five after a tragic accident and was raised in St. Mary's Industrial School on Wilkins Avenue in Baltimore. He was in the Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in Germany and France, and upon honorable discharge spent the rest of his life working with the Maryland State Highway Administration. He was also a proud sponsor in Alcoholics Anonymous in Baltimore City. He was laid in Gardens of Faith Cemetery, where later his wife and in-laws would also be laid.
