COWHERD, David Carlton on March 30, 2011, a great cloud of witnesses rejoiced at the homecoming of David. Born January 25, 1940, in Greensburg, Kentucky, David served the Lord in every aspect of his life. He devoted his life to the study and teaching of God's Word, leading countless souls to faith in Christ. He taught Sunday School for nearly half a century and held Bible studies in his home for more than 20 years. He was a man of integrity and great faith. His faith is now sight, and he is at rest with his Lord. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and mentor. One of David's favorite Bible verses was Matthew 6:33 - "But seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you." David was Chief Engineer and CEO of CBC Engineers in Centerville, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky in 1961 and a Master's of Science in Civil Engineering in 1963, with a specialization in geotechnical engineering created specifically for him. He worked for Bowser-Morner Inc. in Dayton for 30 years from 1965 to 1995, designing the foundations for many of the buildings in downtown Dayton, then left to start his own engineering company. CBC Engineers was established September 15, 1995, by David and his business partner Al Banner and has thrived under their leadership ever since. He was a registered Professional Engineer in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Ontario and Alberta, Canada. David is survived by his wife Jeanne of 51 years with whom he made his home in Centerville for 46 years; daughter Karen Cowherd from Bowling Green, Kentucky; daughter and son-in-law Nathan and Linda Crawford from Greensburg, Kentucky; daughter Jill Cowherd from Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law Ann Cowherd from Franklin, Kentucky; niece Amy Peterson and great-niece Katie Peterson from Taylorsville, Kentucky; John Colby Cowherd from Memphis, Tennessee; brother-in-law Jerry Akin and family from San Antonio, Texas; and brother-in-law David Akin and family from Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father Colby Cowherd, mother Rachel Cowherd, and his brother Mickey Cowherd from Greensburg, Kentucky. Visitation will be held Monday, April 4, from 5-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Miamisburg, 323 North 11th Street. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Miamisburg. Pastor Spurgin officiating.
