Pirl C. Gibbs, 88

Chester - Pirl C. Gibbs, First Street, died Sunday, September 21, 2003, at home. He was born December 18, 1914, in New Haven, W.Va., son of the late Hal W. and Sarah J. Cundiff Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs retired from the National Church Supply Company as Maintenance Supervisor. He served his country with the Military Police, 8th Airforce, U.S. Army during World War II and was a life member of the Chester American Legion Post 121 and Chester VFW Post 6450. Preceding him in death was his wife, Dorothy J. Gibbs, who died March 6, 1996; and three brothers, Kenneth, Roy and Raymond Gibbs. He is survived by a son, Bruce Gibbs and his wife Pam, and a sister, Hazel Babb, both of East Liverpool, Ohio. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Debra Dague Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at 6:30 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Friends may visit from 5:30 until the time of service. In leau of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to your local Hospice organization.
